At RocketBeats, we challenge traditional approaches to physical and non-physical yoga, exploring how yoga can stay relevant in the modern world, without taking it, or ourselves, too seriously.
Since yoga first landed, our bodies, minds and lifestyles have changed, and the science of movement has moved on hugely too. Against this backdrop, this training investigates what yoga can contribute to our 21st century lives and how you can effectively communicate this to a wider audience.
It’s not a massive surprise that RocketBeats has its roots in Rocket yoga. RocketBeats has a strong physical component that has evolved to incorporate a number of other styles of yoga and movement disciplines we’ve encountered and loved along the way. Similarly, we’ve gradually moved away from some of the philosophical dogma of ancient yoga to a modern philosophy which promotes self-reflection and self-agency.
Over time, we have developed a system of movement combining the forward folds of Rocket 1 (FORWARDS), the backbends of Rocket 2 (BACKWARDS), with additional focus on upper (UP) and lower (DOWN) body movement, to take practitioners away from their natural tendencies to a point of greater physical and mental equilibrium.
