RocketBeats 6 Day Teacher Training
16th September – 8th October
£975
£325 per module if booked separately

In this six-day teacher training, spread over 3 weekend modules, we will take you through the foundations of the RocketBeats practice and teaching methodology and show you how we’ve adapted Rocket to include some of the broader influences that have helped us personally find some stillness in our oh-so-chaotic minds.

What is RocketBeats?

At RocketBeats, we challenge traditional approaches to physical and non-physical yoga, exploring how yoga can stay relevant in the modern world, without taking it, or ourselves, too seriously.

Since yoga first landed, our bodies, minds and lifestyles have changed, and the science of movement has moved on hugely too. Against this backdrop, this training investigates what yoga can contribute to our 21st century lives and how you can effectively communicate this to a wider audience.

It’s not a massive surprise that RocketBeats has its roots in Rocket yoga. RocketBeats has a strong physical component that has evolved to incorporate a number of other styles of yoga and movement disciplines we’ve encountered and loved along the way. Similarly, we’ve gradually moved away from some of the philosophical dogma of ancient yoga to a modern philosophy which promotes self-reflection and self-agency.

Over time, we have developed a system of movement combining the forward folds of Rocket 1 (FORWARDS), the backbends of Rocket 2 (BACKWARDS), with additional focus on upper (UP) and lower (DOWN) body movement, to take practitioners away from their natural tendencies to a point of greater physical and mental equilibrium.

Course Content

In this six-day teacher training, spread over 3 weekend modules, we will take you through the foundations of the RocketBeats practice and teaching methodology and show you how we’ve adapted Rocket to include some of the broader influences that have helped us personally find some stillness in our oh-so-chaotic minds. From trikonasana to scorpion, and from pranayama to techno, we’ll encourage you to find your own ways to be still.

Working in all directions of movement, this training will examine a range of asana and different sequencing patterns, so that you have everything you need to develop your practice and learn how to teach your own RocketBeats sequences and classes.

This training is much more than just practice time and will not only help you develop a well-rounded personal practice, but also give you the tools to help others do the same. You’ll be able to use some of the slower sections of the day to ask questions, spend time twisting deep enough to get your foot on the back of your arm for a dragonfly arm balance or adjusting someone else to help them do the same.

Teaching Team

Imi Wiseman & Alan Ellman

We (Imi and Alan) are yoga students and teachers who have been moving, learning and teaching for many years. We developed the RocketBeats system not only from our love of Rocket but from many other forms of yoga and movement. We continue to learn and all we ask is that you are prepared to do the same.

Eligibility + Pre-Requisites

This training is suitable for anyone who has already completed a yoga teacher training and has a regular dynamic physical yoga practice.

We recommend that anyone attending Weekends 2 or 3 has already completed Module 1 or a previous RocketBeats teacher training.

Schedule

Module 1: RocketBeats Teaching Foundations

Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 September

This weekend will include a deep dive into the RocketBeats sequencing foundations and teaching methodology. We will take you through all the challenges we have encountered as teachers and share some of the things we have learnt along the way.

Module 2: UP & DOWN Deep Dive

Saturday 30 September & Sunday 1 October

This weekend will focus on (1) the movement of the upper body – primarily the shoulders and (2) the movement of the lower body – primarily the hips. From plank to handstand and from ardha chandrasana to leg behind the head, this weekend is all about how to build strength and flexibility whether you’re balancing on one leg or one arm.

Module 3: FORWARDS & BACKWARDS Deep Dive

Saturday 7 & Sunday 8 October

This weekend will focus on the forward folds and hip compression aspects taken from traditional Rocket 1 sequences – FORWARDS and the backbends taken from traditional Rocket 2 sequences – BACKWARDS. From paschimottanasana to pike press and from bridge to scorpion pincha, this weekend is all about these two opposing directions and how we can build strength and flexibility inside of them.
