Axis

7th - 12th September, 2026

Join 4BEAT founder Marcus Veda for this six-day training. 4BEAT is a dynamic vinyasa yoga where the breath is synced to the slow, regular beat of the music: a practice of stillness within movement. 4BEAT is a methodological flow of asana (postures), with a signature sequence, special musical mixes and a growing global community of teachers and practitioners. Founded by Marcus Veda at Mission in London.

On this course we look further into the philosophy and methodology of teaching and practising to the beat. We dive deep into the Science of Breath and how traditional pranayama relates to modern dynamic breathing practices. Understand the union of breath, music and yoga at the heart of 4BEAT and its effect on our brain, nervous system and state of mind.

For September we twist and go back – looking at the second sequence in the series – AXIS – with a focus on Breath, Bandha, Spine. We go deep into the brain chemistry of pranayama and the mind body connection with Ruki & Dr Kate O, functional spinal anatomy with Em Mergs, plus our “inside-out” approach to alignment, directional assisting, creative vs structured sequencing to the beat, the neuroscience of subtle energy, exploring expressive teaching techniques and the power of the spine as the central energetic channel of sushumna, the axis around which everything moves.

This TT is for people who have already completed a 200hr training in any style of yoga or experienced practitioners who want to go deeper into the connection of the beat and the breath. Access to all music, sequences and materials is provided.

Base

1st - 6th February, 2027

Join 4BEAT founder Marcus Veda for this six-day training. 4BEAT is a dynamic vinyasa yoga where the breath is synced to the slow, regular beat of the music: a practice of stillness within movement. 4BEAT is a methodological flow of asana (postures), with a signature sequence, special musical mixes and a growing global community of teachers and practitioners. Founded by Marcus Veda at Mission in London.

On this course we look into the philosophy and methodology of teaching and practising to the beat, understanding flow state and how to get into it. This time we focus on the foundational 4BEAT “Base” sequence – Pelvis is king – hips and spine in flexion – moving from the middle.

Em Mergs leads functional anatomy of the hips and pelvis. Ruki and Dr Kate O lecture on the neuroscience of flow state, meditation and the connection of brain states to the subtle body. We will delve into the benefits of group vs solo practice, dynamic vs static meditation and learn how to strip down and simplify your cueing to “de-noise” your teaching, and develop a reliable and progressive self-practice. Discover the difference between active and passive manual assists in the “Love Triangles” with Nino Russo and how to confidently use both by reading bodies and discerning what each practitioner needs. Learn how to teach to the beat and integrate the music to complement (rather than distract from) your teaching. We build on the two pillars at the foundation of the practice – using Abhyasa and Vairagya to still the fluctuations of the mind (Patanjali’s Sutra 1.12).

7th - 12th June, 2027

On this course we look into the philosophy and methodology of teaching and practising to the beat, understanding flow state and how to get into it. This time we focus on the third 4BEAT “Balance” sequence – equanimity & extremes. Balancing upside down, on hands and feet. Practising slow and soft and hard and fast as the terrain dictates. How to make the practice as hard as you need it to be and knowing what is enough.

The importance of drishti (gaze) as a tool for balance (plus proprioception and vestibular training for inversions with Ruki). Lots more handstands and inversions with Em Mergs and Dr Kate O dives into the neuroscience of yoga. We look at how traditional Hatha yoga philosophy plays out in our physical practice: The cultivation of opposites, flexibility as adaptability, creativity vs repetition, freedom vs control.. We revisit Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra 2.46, “Sthira Sukham Asanam: [finding steadiness (Sthira) and ease (Sukha) in yoga postures (Asana)] as a guide to balancing work and rest, doing and not-doing, effort and effortlessness.
