Course Content

Evolving Your Asana is a four-day exploration into the mechanics of movement and how awareness transforms your yoga practice.

Rooted in the Awakening Yoga system, this training invites you to play within your practice — to rediscover curiosity, expand your capacity, and explore how body awareness deepens connection to form. Each day blends experiential practice, group discussion, and conceptual study designed to help you move beyond performance and toward embodied understanding. You’ll learn to observe the structure of poses, refine where movement originates, and reimagine familiar shapes through new pathways. This process opens creative expression and allows each practitioner to reconnect to the joy and intention that fuel long-term practice.

Morning sessions are long-form practice led by Patrick Beach, with content responsive to the practitioners in the room and evolving in real time. Expect progressive sequences that explore mechanics, transitions, and awareness.

Afternoon sessions include lecture, demonstration, and small-group exploration that build on the morning themes with deeper discussion and applied learning.

This is a 34 hour Hybrid Yoga Training: In-Person + Digital Learning. The course includes 24 hours of in-person training plus 10 hours of digital content to deepen your learning and support your journey.

  • Digital course opens one month before your event date.
  • Eligible for 30 CEU hours with Yoga Alliance, or applicable toward the AYA 300-Hour Advanced RYT program.

Learning Outcomes

Day One — From the Foundations
Reconnect to what brought you here. This opening day revisits the roots of your practice to uncover what continues to support your growth. Pose Concept: recognizing structure through measured observation of form. Simple Prompt: where do you move from?

Day Two — Beginning to Blossom
Identify what is currently thriving in your practice. Explore strength, range, and coordination to reveal how you experience form from the inside out. Pose Concept: testing capacity to blend effort and feeling within form. Simple Prompt: what is your current capacity?

Day Three — Tending the Garden
Clarify direction and purpose. Use what you’ve learned to set intentions for your continued evolution as a practitioner. Pose Concept: working with your “soil” — refining techniques and strategies that serve your development. Simple Prompt: where are you trying to go?

Day Four — New Land, New Crops
Bring creativity and curiosity to the forefront. Move beyond the familiar, translate lessons into lived experience, and express yourself through movement with freedom and play. Pose Concept: a different path to entry — exploring infinite possibilities within form. Simple Prompt: how can we bring inspiration to life in creative ways?

By the end of the training, participants will deepen personal awareness of movement mechanics within asana practice, develop tools for self-inquiry and intentional practice design, and learn to adapt movement to individual capacity and inspiration. Students will explore creative approaches to evolving familiar postures and transitions, strengthening the physical and mental connection through experiential exploration.
