Pilates

Having climbed for many years, I came to Pilates as a way to find more three-dimensionality and balance in my body. After an ankle injury resulted in the need for rehabilitation, I soon grew passionate about the way the Classical method can inform all walks of life. Originally from Vancouver, Canada, with backgrounds as both an athlete and artist, I am eager to encourage greater awareness of the mind-body-breath connection through his classes.

Class Description

Pilates

Pilates is a method developed by Joseph Pilates in early 20th century, and then was taken to New York in the 50s, where it became popular amongst dancers and athletes who used the method to train their bodies. Now globally known and used because of its strong focus around strengthening and toning the core, it supports other practices such as yoga, gymnastics and weight training.

In our classes you can expect to focus on stability, flexibility and strength. Each session emphasises precision and control, mobility, sculpting and stretching muscles, and using your own body weight dynamically as a way to to build up resilience. Through consistent commitment, you’ll deepen your workout by learning the sequence and choreography of each exercise while incorporating the guiding principles; Breath, Concentration, Control, Precision, Centre and Flow.

The classes are vigorous, fun and energetic, all are welcome.
