Abbie Galvin

16th – 19th April
Abbie Galvin is the owner of The Studio, a NYC based yoga studio, teaching Katonah Yoga. She has been honing this practice for the past 25 years and has a strong student-base from all around the world.Abbie’s instruction is informed by her own creative process as a filmmaker and from her exploration of the therapeutic process as a psychoanalyst. She has learned over and over that truly participating in any formal process of self-exploration leads to transformation whether it be physical, psychological or intellectual. Her goal is to engage students of yoga in the dialogue between their conscious and their unconscious selves because it is through that effort that we potentiate ourselves. It is her intention as a teacher to cajole each student in that most rigorous effort to be grounded, to grow upwards, and to participate in the creation of their best self.

Saraswathi Jois

23rd – 26th April
Saraswathi is the world’s senior-most Ashtanga Yoga teacher in the esteemed lineage. She has been practising yoga since she was 10 years old, and became the first female student ever accepted into Mysore’s prestigious Sanskrit College. She raised eyebrows as a woman teaching yoga in her 20s in a male-dominated world that is India. She met resistance but carried on in her mission to spread the healing teachings of yoga, particularly to women. Saraswathi broke further societal norms in the 1980s, becoming the first woman to teach classes to both men and women together in one room.
It is rare for Saraswathi to travel and teach outside of her shala in Mysore, and Mission is honored to host her every year.

Alona Zhurvel

Alona embarked on her handstand journey at the tender age of 6, and ever since, it has become second nature to her. Her remarkable career in performance took flight in 2001, and she has since graced stages across the globe, captivating audiences with unforgettable shows such as “Varekai” and “Joya” by Cirque du Soleil.

Throughout the past 5 years, Alona Zhuravel has dedicated herself to exploring various teaching methods, and this enlightening experience has led her to a profound realization: humans tend to unnecessarily complicate the art of handstands. Consequently, her purpose next to performing has become to make the upside-down world as comfortable and light as it possibly can be for those wanting to learn.
